Amanda Dodge
Amanda Dodge is the Program Director for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Saskatchewan, guiding its local work in peacebuilding, reconciliation, refugee resettlement, community development and more. She does community-based justice work in reconciliation and decolonization, animates MCC's advocacy campaign, and facilitates in-prison programming. Prior to joining MCC in 2017, Amanda practiced poverty law and engaged in systemic advocacy with community legal aid offices for over 12 years. Amanda has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Regina, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard University.
Jonah Toth
Jonah Toth is the founder and executive director of passion2action, a non-profit and grassroots youth empowerment organization that works to foster active citizenship amongst youth through innovative leadership development and community engagement programming. In his day job, Jonah works as the Community Engagement Catalyst at the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation where he serves as a connector of community and helps to build capacity in the local charitable sector.
Dr. Martin Gaal
Dr. Martin Gaal has lectured at the University of Saskatchewan in Political Studies and International Studies since 2012. Prior to moving to Saskatoon, Martin lived and worked abroad for seventeen years in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Belgium and the United Kingdom. In Belgium, Martin read for his Ph.D. in International Relations at the University of Kent Brussels. While undertaking his studies, he had the opportunity to work at the European Parliament and Copura, a European Security and Defence consultancy. Since 2016, Martin has been deeply involved in developing the Global Studies Certificate, expanding the certificate to include over 300 courses in 10 colleges and created the Global Café series to explore pressing issues of Saskatchewan and Canada in the world. At the core of these projects are the goals of encouraging students to learn actively, think broadly, act ethically, and engage respectfully. In 2018-19, Martin received the USSU Teaching Excellence Award, and in 2019-20 he was the recipient of the College of Arts and Science New Teacher Award in BA, BFA, and BMus Programs. More colloquially, Martin describes himself as an inquisitive mind prone to stumbling on, over, and through various obstacles in life.
Colleen Strauch
Colleen Strauch is the Director of the Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Studies Network at Luther College at the University of Regina. Her work centers around supporting a thriving nonprofit and voluntary sector through learning, research, and innovation. Colleen has worked and volunteered in the nonprofit sector both in Regina and internationally and is enthusiastic about contributing to learning and growth in our community. She has been a volunteer with the Terry Fox Foundation, the Regina Open Door Society, RaiseHer, and has served a board member of the Saskatchewan Career Development Association. Colleen is currently a PhD student at the University of Regina.
Manuela Valle-Castro
Manuela Valle-Castro is an experienced anti-oppressive and anti-racist educator, researcher, and advocate with a focus on systems transformation through cultural and institutional change. Manuela is interested in research and educational strategies that advance social justice, and in projects that mobilize communities to organize and advocate for their wellbeing. She is an organizer with Girls Rock Saskatoon, the Hands Off Latin America Coalition, a host for the community radio feminist show Laundry List, and the coordinator of the Anti-Racism Network.
Sola John
Sola John is an experienced coach and mentor with over 15 years of working with various groups of people from young people to leadership teams from the development space to Business start-up entrepreneurs. He is a certified Emotional Intelligence, Career Coach, and NLP Coach. Sola John got a PhD in Theatre & Performing Arts. He is a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Socially Engaged Theatre, University of Regina, Canada.
