6:30 - 7:00 PM - Grow Your Own Microgreens
Facilitated by Engineers Without Borders
During this workshop we will plant a tray of microgreen seeds (which will be yours to take home and enjoy), and discover ways to incorporate microgreens into your daily meals! Only requiring a few dollars worth of supplies and a couple of weeks to grow, homegrown microgreens are an easy way to get more nutrients, year-round. We'll also be sharing the exciting &
important work that EWB is doing to innovate food systems in Africa.
Seed Saving 101 - 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Facilitated by Rachelle Ternier, co-operator of Prairie Garden Seeds
Seeds are produced in abundance by nature, and with some careful thought and consideration, we can help continue their life cycle by gathering those seeds, saving them, and replanting them to contribute to our local community’s seed and food sovereignty - a community’s ability to nourish itself. During this workshop we will address terms like heritage, hybrid, heirloom, and open-pollinated seed and why they matter. We will also discuss the basics of pollination, selecting, processing, as well as methods for growing, harvesting and processing seeds.
This event is organized by the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation, the Every Bite Project, Engineers Without Borders, and the Regina Floral Conservatory.
Thank you to Mumm's Sprouting Seeds for donating the door prize!
