As the world seems tuned-in to the ongoing violence, oppression, and discrimination of People of Colour, we at SCIC would like to take this opportunity to encourage all within our networks to denounce both acute and systematic racism, and stand up for justice.
In recognition of #TheShowMustBePaused campaign, SCIC has put a pause on our regular programming and online communications between now and June 7th. Our intention is to learn and reflect on how we can do better. During this time we will continue to promote intersectional resources and events in recognition of Indigenous History Month and Pride Month, all other regular communications will be paused.
We are encouraged that calls to action led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) both here in Saskatchewan and beyond our borders are generating momentum among many, including those who have sat in the comfort of complacency for so long.
We at SCIC are learning together as a team, and as global community members, and are committed to standing up for Black and Indigenous lives, for human rights, human dignity, and a more just and equitable world.
We are committing to active anti-racist action and continued learning, now and into the future.
It is vital to stay engaged, beyond this week, and beyond a single campaign. We must embody the tenets of Black Lives Matter, Idle No More, and other BIPOC led movements in our homes, our work, and our day-to-day lives.
On behalf of all of us at SCIC, I ask you to please listen, learn, and stand up against injustice.
In solidarity,
Jessica Wood | Executive Director
