Students will become familiar with the dimensions of world poverty; learn about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); and discover connections among the MDGs.
The Millennium Development Goals
By 2015 all 189 United Nations Member States have pledged to:
- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- Achieve universal primary education
- Promote gender equality and empower women
- Reduce child mortality
- Improve maternal health
- Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
- Ensure environmental sustainability
- Develop a global partnership for development
