The new year has brought in many new and exciting opportunities! SCIC is proud to announce our Global Citizen Awards Celebration, as part of International Development Week taking place February 6th-12th 2022!
International Development Week (IDW) is a national initiative to engage Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast with the collective work of ending global poverty, advancing human rights, combating climate change, and improving equitable access to health and education the world over. If in-person events are not your thing, you can still celebrate IDW online by using these ideas:
1. Subscribe and follow Global Affairs Canada on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
2. Participate in this years' IDW social media challenge.
3. Share your IDW stories, photos, and videos on your personal social media channel using the official hashtag: #IDW2022
Due to the current climate of the pandemic, the InSight 360 Project has been postponed in Regina until September 2022. Please continue to check the website at www.insightproject.ca for updates. We look forward to seeing Regina classrooms visit this unique installation as soon as it is safe to do so.

IDW Classroom Art Contest
At SCIC we believe that art can make people stop and think, art can move people to action. We believe that art is activism! SCIC's IDW Classroom Art Contest challenges you to get creative and inspire others using art. Add your voice, along with your classmates’ voices, to a global movement of creating diversity, inclusion, and equality for all. To participate in this year's IDW Classroom Art Contest K-12 classrooms will read the book One World, One Day by Barbara Kerley together as a class. Each class will decide on a theme in the book focused around diversity, inclusion, and equality, and by combining each student's art together, create one large art piece! Each class will submit a photo of the collective artwork along with a maximum 250-word statement outlining which theme was chosen for the pieces of art and why. The winning classrooms will be awarded a Global Citizenship Education Classroom Resource Package valued at $1000! The deadline for submissions is Feb. 4th, 2022, 5 pm CST Find rules and guidelines here!
