Human Trafficking: Dignity & Rights in a World of Blurred Borders

According to the UN, nearly 21 million people worldwide are victims of forced labour: trapped in jobs which they were coerced or deceived into, and which they cannot leave. Trafficking, a form of modern slavery, is often thought of as something that happens far off in a distant world, with the image of captured persons being smuggled across borders. Yet forced labour and sexual exploitation have strong connections to Saskatchewan, which is both a destination and a source of individuals who are trafficked within Canada. Stigma can keep discussions of human trafficking in the dark, masking the true scope of the issues facing trafficked persons.

Join us to hear a diversity of viewpoints on human rights and dignity in a world where people work to provide for themselves and their families, sometimes at all costs.
